A Few Note Cards

I've been in a funk when it comes to making cards lately. I think one of the reasons is that my right hand has become quite painful when squeezing a glue bottle, or cutting with scissors. It also bothers me to hold a paint brush for any length of time. I'm attributing it to working for 17 years in a bindery. I think it's finally catching up to me. It's bothering me as I type this. Tough getting old, I'm tellin' ya.

So here they are ~ 5 cards (can I hear a woo hoo?!) They're made from an old embroidery book I found. I did random watercolor painting on the pages, let them dry & fashioned these all occasion notes. The envelopes match their pattern on the card. Don't forget to click on the image to enlarge. (SOLD - Thank you Jenny.)

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you're all having a wonderful Fall day out there in Blog land. They never did catch the bank robber yesterday. Eeeek.

Monday, October 5, 2009

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a nice weekend. I'm rather glad it's over. I actually enjoy Mondays. It's been a little crazy in my town this morning ~ our one & only bank was robbed! He's on the loose & they have put the school in lockdown. Eeeek! This bank is right across the road from my house. The helicopters are buzzing overhead. Very scary.

I have a few things for your viewing pleasure today. Below is a very old "sewing basket." It's made of wood & chock full of buttons, yo-yo's, pins, needles etc. Don't forget to click on the image to enlarge.

Here's the sid eview of the little plaque that I made (Burpee Seeds.) I've made 4 of these & attached a sawtooth hanger to the back. This vintge image was from an actual 1934 catalog that I used to have. I've "distressed" the wood & sanded the edges to keep with the old-time look. (SOLD ~ two to Jimi, thank you.) Two more still available.

Who doesn't love "Shiney Brites?" These are in wonderful condition. (SOLD - Thank you Amy W.)

Cute little Pixies. Wouldn't they look cute in a wreath? (SOLD - Thank you Jenny.)

Christmas books of long ago. I have two, one dated 1947 (The Golden Christmas Book), & "Sing For Christmas" (1943.) (SOLD ~ both Christmas books. Thanks Lisa.)

Here is the cover. The spine is a little tattered, but is really a very darling book. It measures 11 x 8-1/2."

And a "Christmas Tree Door Cover." Here are the little ornaments that come with this cute item. It doesn't appear that it's ever been used. The tinsel is unopened.

I have to apologize with the very incorrect date on all of my photos. I messed up the camera this morning without realizing it. Thanks for taking a look. I hope you have a very happy & blessed week. I'm going to go grab my binoculars & see how they're making out with the bank robber suspect. There are police cars everywhere and they're sending in the SWAT team!

Hello everyone. Where has the week gone? It's hard to believe the weekend is upon us. It's quite chilly here in NY this morning. I love it! The leaves are rapidly turning colors. There's a big festival this weekend called "The Apple-Umpkin Festival." It brings crowds from 100's of miles away. It's about a 5 min. drive for me. I probably won't go because of my crowd phobia. It's located in the village of Wyoming which has original gas lights lining the streets. They still work, too. Very historic.

I just love these little girl prints. I had the originals photo copied at our local printer. I had them downsized abit. I'm not sure what I'd like to do with them. Ideas welcome. Or, if you'd like them just as they are, that's ok too! :o) They measure 6-1/2" x 8" (does not include the border.) Wouldn't they be darling in a little girl's room? The frames could be painted a soft buttercup or a pastel pink.

And this lovely AVON plate from 1982 comes with it's original box. I don't believe it's ever been used considering it's excellent condition.

I've been busy painting some things these past few days. Boy, it's no fun waiting for paint to dry! LOL I need to make a trip to the hardware store for the last minute touches & I'll be ready to share them with you. Hopefully some time this weekend.

Have a wonderFALL day!

Cock-a-Doodle-do!

Hello everyone ~ it's been a long time since I've posted. I've been busy & working on projects...I have some really neat things that I hope to post within the next day or two. Thank you ALL so much for your continued support. Blessings to you.

Aren't these pair so darling? I believe they are porcelain? I painstaking cleaned them for literally hours with a soft toothbrush to get the grime off. Someone probably had them in their kitchen? Or had them for a long time. There is not a chip or a crack anywhere. They obviously have been very loved. They are from an estate sale. Don't forget to click on the picture to get a larger view. Isn't it funny that the people in the picture have the same FACE as the Mr. & Mrs? I'm still cracking (cackling) up over that.

Here is a closer look of Mr. & Mrs.

And the bottom ~ they are numbered the same. It looks as though a sticker has been removed, so I am unsure of the maker. (SOLD ~ thank you Sharon!)

Fall is in the air here in NY! Cool mornings of 45° is wonderful. The leaves are gently falling and the smell of burning wood is in the air. Until next time ~ take care, & don't forget to do the things that make you HAPPY.
xoxoxo

Hello everyone! I've been gone too long. Getting William prepared for Kindegarten last week was quite challenging. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute. School supply shopping, haircut, etc. etc. I hope you are all doing well. Now that the little Lamb will be in school all day, I can focus more on keeping up here & creating wonderful projects. I have lots up my sleeves, so please check back often!

These ceramic balls really caught my eye & think I can make some type of garden 'bling' with them. I had 6 of them, but dropped one (hole in bag.) That was the end of that. I thought there was a large hole in the bottom of the balls (there were stickers covering them.) Turned out they are quite small. Not enough to do what I had planned for them. I have other ideas swirling though. Don't they remind you of Easter?

These lovely vintage strawberries are ready to hold your tea bags. I love their faces & big eyes. Don't forget to click on any picture to enlarge. The very old "Keano" game is in great condition considering its age. There are round, wooden number game pcs. enclosed. I had taken a picture of the inside & thought I'd uploaded it, but I guess not. If you'd like to see it, just let me know. There are these little pcs. of paper inside with tiny wording. For example, one states, "It's a girl's fault and she's a dunce. If she believes his "just this once." (ha.)

A few oldie-but-goody cookbooks. The church one has pockets in it & is full of the previous owners handwritten recipes from days gone by. Very touching. I wonder if she had any daughters & why they didn't keep this treasure?

This is a serving tray to a miniature tea set. (See next picture below.) It's very charming & whimsical with bugs, bees & butterflies. I've had it for YEARS & it's never once been out of the box. (Which is very nice, too, by the way.)

It is a 6 piece set. Teapot with lid, sugar bowl with lid, and the creamer. Such a darling little set.

And if you're feeling crafty, here are a handful of books. All are in great shape & priced to sell!

A few decorating ~

A very cute AVON Christmas plate dated 1982. Still in original box. Very nice. :o) Imagine how delicious cookies will look on that?

Thanks again for stopping by & leaving comments. I appreciate you all so much. Have a great weekend & I'll be chatting with you soon.

I Just WISH....

Oh how I LOVE these "wall pockets." This has been something I've wanted to make for a long time now. I don't have the proper tools at the moment, but it's something I REALLY want to try. I'm sorry that I can't give credit to who made these. I can't remember what sight I found them.

I've always been a fan of wall pockets & they surely are quite pricey on Ebay. Of course, these are one of a kind...which make them even more unique. (Inserting heavy sigh here) I REALLY want to try making these.

Please stay tuned for more goodies that I will post in the next few days. It sure has been HOT here in NY & I'm not loving the sun at the moment! LOL

Here a Book, There a Book, Everywhere a Cookbook

Hello everyone,
I hope you had a great weekend! I wish I could have spent it rummaging through garage sales, but I wasn't able. If you like to cook & bake, then please take a peek at the great cookbooks I'm listing today.

These little cookbooks are SO great! I have tons of them (for all seasons.) They're tried & true recipes that were submitted by the readers of this magazine. They date back from the late 70's throughout the mid 80's. I've copied quite a few of the recipes in these books. They are truly wonderful. There are approximately 100 recipes per magazine. They're the size of a Reader's Digest, only thinner.
